Starvation in the slums of Africa

The Coronavirus pandemic presents a huge threat to those living in and around the slums of Africa.

250,000 people living in three square kilometers – 5 or more people living in a single room – no soap and running water to wash hands.  That is the reality of the Kibera slum in Nairobi Kenya.

Most slum dwellers live hand to mouth and earn money by doing casual work (cleaning, gardening, cooking) for households within walking distance of where they live.  With the threat of Covid-19, people do not want outsiders to come onto their land.  This means those living in the slums don’t have work, which means no money and no ability to buy food for their family.
