Makutano goes Solar powered
In June our Mission Director visited Makutano and had talkes with three companies who provide solar installations to see if this would be viable for the 3-phase power supply needed for the recycling centre. All three companies agreed that sufficient power could be provided from Solar and were invited to tender for the installation. The contract was awarded to ONSEC APPLIANCE based in Kenya.
No time was lost in getting the installation up and running. The system has been commissioned and tested so by August the centre was powered just by Solar removing the need for the long overdue grid connection by Kenya Power and also doing still more to combat climate change.
Another big step forwards in our efforts to do our small bit in combatting Climate Change.
